Food Log for Sunday

Here it is: Still having a lot of trouble eating all my points for the day.

Got a terrible migraine this afternoon- I think it was a combination of working on my massive grad school project (FINISHED!!!), not drinking enough water, withdrawal from Diet Coke and not eating enough. Headache is almost gone, and another liter of water is gone, so that is good. First big test is tomorrow: have meetings all week and “food will be provided.” my guess is pizza, pasta or something else “carbie” that will feed lots of people for cheap. I am bringing snacks (grapes, carrots), water and a healthy breakfast to help get me through the day. I guess the upside is that I will get my points in for the day. :)

Back in the Saddle Again…

I am taking back my life and my body- I rejoined Weight Watchers today. Proud of me and proud that I am trying to get back to somewhat of a normal like. School and grad school are crazy, but it seems like everything in my life is crazy– I finally (DUH!) realized that I need to just take care of me and everything else can just WAIT.

I weighed in at my biggest today. UGH.

BUT I just got back from 4 sunny days in Mexico binging on all-inclusive all you can eat buffets so I am sure that had something to do with it. I will not be at my all time biggest next week.

Meetings are at 8:30am on Saturdays, so while I am not promising I will post here every day, I will do my best to share my LOSSES (and gains) and non-scare victories each Saturday. I really do want to post my meals each day. I will do my best.

I did another thing for ME today- got my nails and toes done. IT WAS FANTASTIC! I got my first no-chip manicure – it is supposed to last 2 weeks without looking crappy. We shall see– I am in the middle of a 2o page Teacher Work Sample right now (due tomorrow- EEK!) I wonder if all my typing will wear the poor polish out! :)

PS: Anyone having trouble eating all their pointsplus points? I know it is the first day and all, but usually I am STARVING and out of points on the first day of WWs. I still have 8 pointsplus left and I am FULL!! I wonder if it is the (good for me) foods I am eating (and the fact that I didn’t have breakfast this morning?)

Excited for FitBloggin- ONLY 25 MORE DAYS!!

Wordless Wednesday

SnOprah 2011!!! Total snow in Chicago 20.2 inches… Wowie-Zowie!

Welcome Kwanzaa!

kinaraWhile I don’t celebrate Kwanzaa, I learned all about it a few weeks ago when my students were learning about holidays of lights. This song got stuck in my head, so I had to get it stuck into yours.

NOTE: I would love to praise the singer, and even link you directly to the singers page, but I have no idea who this is. If you DO know, please let me know so I can properly site the singer.

Enjoy!

Kwanzaa Time

Merry Christmas!

Shameless Begging: Please help me win a new Sealy Mattress from WorkoutMommy!

So I know I am never on this blog anymore- my life is CRAZY right now with teaching, grad school and, you know, LIFE. My back is killing me from the 15,000 STEPS (yes, 15,000) that I am taking a day at school. I am realizing that I need a new mattress as mine is decades-old and falling apart– and to be perfectly honest, it is too hard for my poor back.

Here is where you come in.

Would you please take 15 seconds out of your day and vote for my video on workoutmommy.com to help me win a new Sealy Embody Mattress? I already made it through the first round, now I am hoping to make it through to the end… Here is the link – I am VIDEO #2:

Ok… so it is not “Wordless Wednesday…” but atleast I am posting! I was a volunteer for the Rally to Restore Sanity to today in Chicago. While I was really excited about the rally and give a big shout out to the organizer, a few of the speakers were really off-putting and I actually left early. I consider myself a liberal kind of gal, but some of the things that were said were not really what I would consider sanity inducing, as the event was supposed to be. BUT, I must say, the rally was set up wonderfully and I had a blast the first hour or so. Am excited to see the DC rally (I DVR’ed it). Happy Night Before Halloween! Stay Safe tonight!

Holidays are coming!

Disclosure: Shutterfly has their new holiday cards out and I will receive 50 free cards for this post.

Have you ordered your holiday cards yet?

Yeah, I haven’t either! With teaching and grad school and, you know, LIFE, I haven’t been able to even check out my favorite card sites yet to see which style I wanted to pick.

Well, thanks to Shutterfly, I don’t have to worry about my holiday card shopping this year- they have me covered!

They have amazing new card styles that are so cute and stylish! I used them 2 years ago for my holiday cards and everyone gushed over how adorable Mr More and I were with the pink, green and red background. I wish I would have saved one so I could show you!

My favorite (and probably the one I am going to use this year) is the Snow Flurries card (see below – the link will take you back to this card for more info…):

I love the chocolate brown and pinky-red combo, and I love that there can be 3 photos. I also like that it says “Happy Holidays”- I have a lot of friends who celebrate other holidays than Christmas, so this will cover everyone!

If you have a chance, check out shutterfly’s website – they have a lot of cool cards for any occasion, but I think their holiday ones are the best!

Weekly Menu – Week 2

Mindful Menus

Lunches for the first week of school: I have been told I wont have alot of time to eat while teaching…The kids have 25 minutes to eat at lunchtime and I will be monitoring the room, so no time to eat then. I will have a prep period while the kids go to “specials” (gym, music, art, something else I am forgetting right now) but I will also need to make copies, tweak lesson plans and check my email….I might just lose a few lbs! :-)

Because I won’t have alot of time, I am planning small snack-type meals that I can quickly eat without heating them. We have a small dorm-sized refrigerator in my classroom, so my food will stay cold. I am planning only one day a week for a hot lunch, because I hear the line for the microwave can get long in the teachers lounge.

My mentor teacher allows water bottles in the classroom, so I will stay hydrated. I will have to stagger my water intake though, I won’t be able to have many bathroom breaks.

Monday: LABOR DAY – Left over grilled hot dog, bun, mustard and ketchup, 12 oz diet coke, water, nectarine.

Tuesday: Justin’s Almond Butter packet, flatbread crackers, apple, triscut crackers, nectarine, water.

Wednesday: leftover crockpot meal from Sunday (recipe in this post from Saturday), water, green beans, nectarine.

Thursday: a repeat of Tuesday. I love snacky lunches.

Friday: GRAD SCHOOL: I have a Groupon for America’s Dog, so I will be eating there for lunch. We will have a very short amount of time for lunch (classes run from 8-12, then from 12:30-4:30)  so I will have to run quickly to get lunch. But I feel like if I don’t allow myself one day to eat out, at least initially, I will feel “deprived” and want to eat out for dinner every night, you know what I mean?
