Halfway there…

Just a quick check in from my hotel– I am about halfway to Chicago.

I started the day at my last day at the office, turned in my keys, then went to my final walkthrough with the rental comapny. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the way they do business, and NEVER EVER want to rent from another company again– but that i for a different post at a different time. :-)

Anyway, I went and picked up an extremely pissed off cat at the vet/boarders and we started on our way.

The drive was pretty uneventful  – I love driving through the mountains while the leaves are changing. I really wish I had a “real” camera, but I took a few snaps with my cell phone while I was on the road– I hope you can see the changing colors.

I had booked a room in Clarkston Clarksville (for some reason I keep calling it ‘Clarkston’- strange) and I am glad I did, because about 4 miles from the exit it started DOWNPOURING.

I ran into the front desk of the hotel to check in (leaving the cat in his carrier for a few minutes because it was raining so hard) and when I came out to get him, the car stunk to holy hell.

He had made what I call an ‘F-U Poo’*— and not in his makeshift litterbox. ALL OVER HIS CARRIER- His fabric pop-up, hard to clean carrier.

Thank JEBUS I had thought to put down two tarps- one under and one between the cat and his carrier. He was COVERED in it.

I think he even might have rolled in it.

**Shakes head**

I got him in his small carrier, then I brought it into the room, then put him into the tub for a bath.

Talk about a pissed off cat. I got the growls, claws and bites he had been holding onto for 3 days while he was boarded.

He is now sitting at the end of the bed all fluffy and clean. And purring. I think he forgives me. I hope he does at least. :-)

I will head out again tomorrow;  hopefully it will be done storming by then.

*A ‘F-U Poo’ is the poo that the cat/dog does when they are nervous/scared/pissed/angry – it is part ‘regular’ poo, and part super-duper stinky diarrhea.

Moving Moving Moving…

I will be away from blogging for the next few days moving from Atlanta back home to Chicago. I will be adding periodic Twitter updates, twitpics from the road and the like, but I won’t have an internet connection again until Monday.

MONDAY IS THE BEGINING OF A BETTER ME…

PS: I took my extremely pissed off cat to the vet to be boarded this afternoon for the first time. He was UBER angry at me. FLAT EARS pissed. I half expect to get a call from the vet’s office tonight asking me to come get my belligerent child from day care cuz he is biting the other kids. Fingers crossed that I don’t get a call! LOL

Lose Atlanta

In 5 days, I will be moving back home.

To Chicago.

I have always heard that “home is where you make it.”

While I met wonderful people who have become the kind of friends I will keep for a lifetime (CM, JL, PG, amongst others, I’m looking at you!) I have to admit, I was ADMIMANT at not letting myself like Atlanta.

I was angry, annoyed* and, well, SWEATY. What the hell is up with southern summers anyway? I’m shvitzing over here!

Curly hair + humidity = big scary mess.

Combination skin +southern summer = oily mess

Big scary mess + oily mess = ugh.

I think I willed the gods to move me back to Chicago in 6 months flat.

The movers were here today and in five hours, 4 people packed everything in my 1 bedroom house and had it ALL in the truck.

Let me tell you, I am freaking impressed.

The cat was locked in the bathroom/bedroom/bathroom again and was NONE TO PLEASED to not be the center of attention.

I am currently all fat-n-happy after a nice Moe’s J.C. combo, and going through some major Tivo withdrawal as all the cords are packed away.

I am totally craving fruit, which means I am eating Waaaaaaay too much crap. That’s a good thing, as I need to be craving good things.

I am off to the store to buy bottled water and and some fruit, oh- and some floss.

*Short reason why I was annoyed- my organization made me move for a new job/promotion- a writing gig- that I could have done from anywhere.
