My poor Mr More (my 26lb, 15 year-old, diabetic cat) was REALLY sick all night. By sick, I mean, “stuff” coming out both ends all night. him shaking, and shivering in the shower stall all night. trying to go potty, but having issues (of the non-’solid’ variety), and since he is long-haired, hissing at me as I cleaned him up each time.
And being the good cat parent that I am, I was up with him.
All. Night. Long.
Poor big baby.
With less than 2 hours of sleep, I woke up at 6:30 all ready to get my butt on the treadmill.
Yeah- that didn’t even happen. Again. I went back to sleep for a while. (later on, I ended up taking a 3 hour nap at at 3 when I wanted to workout again. I really needed the sleep after my hellish night with the cat*.)
Grr.
With non-sleep comes poor(er) lunch food choices, I have found.
Anyway, Here is my food diary for the day.
B-fast
- 13 high fiber crackers
- cottage cheese
- water
- apple
Snack
- Greek yogurt with blueberries
Lunch – I met a good friend for lunch. I made three food mistakes. 1. I did not know where were were going before I got to her office. 2. I was almost ready to eat my own hand when we got there 3. I asked her what she was going to get before I even looked at the menu. Dumb.
- Bunless hamburger with a sprinkling of blue cheese
- sweet potato fries with a small amount of dipping sauce
- about 4 glasses of water (no soda- BIG ACHIEVEMENT)
Dinner:
- Green salad with carrots, broccoli slaw (no dressing on the slaw) and cucumbers
- Small amount of dressing (olive oil vinaigrette)
- 3 servings of steamed broccoli plain
- 2 light string cheese “logs” (is that what they are called?)
- water
Snack:
- a serving of Kashi Go Lean with 1 percent milk
While lunch was not at all what I would call the best option, I have to say I chose sweet potato fries over regular, no bun over bun, and water over soda. I actually heard myself ordering “diet-actually, just water please.”
When the heck have I done that in the last 6 months?
NEVER.
It has been all about the ‘supersize” this and “extra sauce” there. And “fried” everything else. I didn’t do that today. I did have something fried today, but a relatively small amount and it got rid of any craving I had.
But I think I made up for my “splurge” but eating a “light’ early dinner full of veggies.
I have to remember that this process is not a quick fix– it is a process.I live in the real life, not on TV on the Biggest Loser with my meals planned for me and 5 hours of exercise a day.
ONE DAY ONE MEAL AT A TIME.
I wanted to jump on the scale this morning to see “if I lost anything” but decided against it. One of my “goals” was to not weigh myself for 1 month. It has only been 4 days and I am already wanting to see if the changes to my diet are affecting me positively, body-wise.
I can tell you that the food changes are already helping me with my mood. I am not so crabby. And I am feeling more positive.
And positive is a great feeling.

*Mr More decided to feel MUCH better later in the day, of course after I had made an emergency vet appt. I was able to cancel the appt, and hope he won’t keep me up all night tonight. he is begging for food right now, so I think he is on the mend. Thank Goodness!
